Steven Parker Likes What He Sees At OSU

Steven Parker

There is no doubt that Oklahoma State is looking to add in-state players to its future recruiting classes. Head coach Mike Gundy said as much on signing day when he said that the 2014 class in Oklahoma looked better and that the Cowboys were going to go strong after a number of players. One of their very first offers in Oklahoma in the 2014 class is Jenks safety Steven Parker.

The 6-2, 185-pound Parker had more than 50 tackles this season and also picked off three passes. That despite opposing offenses doing their best to avoid the playmaker on defense. Parker has scholarship offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tulsa and Oklahoma State, and Saturday he was in Stillwater for a Junior Day.

"I thought it went good and I liked what I saw," said Parker. "We had the opportunity to watch some film and then we were able to see Stillwater and go through the campus. It was a good experience and I was able to meet all the coaches. I really liked it."

The Jenks standout did not go to the Bedlam basketball game, but he did note that Oklahoma State won it in overtime.

Parker said it was just his second junior day as he had also been to Oklahoma.

"Those two so far, but I'm going to Notre Dame, and I want to go to Alabama and some of those other schools away," explained Parker, who is among the very best of the prospects in this class. "I was going to go to LSU, but just got the information and it was the same day as OSU."

We will keep tabs on Parker and that may keep us very busy because our guess is he will be very busy. This is just the tip of the iceberg for him.

The juniors on hand at OSU on Saturday are just beginning the recruiting process. Among the 30 or so prospects visiting OSU were Bishop McGuinness quarterback Jacob Lewis, Guthrie athlete Kai Callins, Kingfisher athlete Landon Nault, Ardmore wide receiver Carter Swanson, and Tulsa Union wide receiver Jeffery Mead.

We'll continue checking to see what others were in Stillwater for the Cowboys second junior day.
